The First Tee

of Lehigh Valley and Berks

Over 350 children were enrolled in eight program locations from Reading to Easton in 2019, including new sites at Olde Homestead Golf Course (New Tripoli ) and Riverview Country Club (Easton).

As we come to the end of 2019 and reflect on this past year, we have much to be thankful for, and many positive achievements and memories to celebrate. Our Board and Staff worked very hard to fulfill our mission of teaching children life skills, core values, and healthy habits through the game of golf. We had nearly 400 children attend our programs in the summer as well as after school in the fall and spring. These programs were offered at 3 additional golf courses and 4 additional schools. Since our inception in 2000 we have served nearly 10,000 participants.

We strongly believe in the positive impact of our programs,
and it is gratifying to hear it from the participants themselves:

“Through The First Tee programs, I have not only learned to be a better golfer, but a better person. In my time here, I have loved learning to play golf, learning life skills off the course, and interacting with new friends. The memories I have made are some that I will never forget.” AJ age 14

“The First Tee has played an instrumental role in my life, giving me the tools needed to achieve my dream to play collegiate golf. I am forever grateful to the organization that has contributed to my success on and off the course.” Hannah age 18

Looking forward to 2020, our goal is to enroll 500 participants in our programs, and to expand the number of courses and schools that offer these programs. The only way we can do this is with your support. Please remember that every $100 donation provides a child with 20 hours of golf instruction. It enables access to our programs for many children who would not otherwise be able to attend.

So, please donate as generously as you can by going to our Donate page.

Thank you for believing in our mission and in our ability to positively impact the lives of
Lehigh Valley and Berks County youth.

Best Wishes to you and yours for a Safe and Joyous Holiday Season.

Nine Core Values

Why is golf different from other sports?

Players learn values like honesty and responsibility by calling penalties on themselves and reporting their own score. By participating in First Tee, youth are introduced to Nine Core Values which are incorporated throughout the program.

Getting started

Who can play?

First Tee offers group lessons to youth up to age 18 regardless of background or previous experience. Our coaches are trained to make kids feel comfortable and assure they have a positive, non-intimidating experience. All we ask is young people come with an open mind and positive attitude.
